19 Nov 5 Great Truths Every Believer Needs To Embrace
Many times as I discover the truths about who I am in Christ and what I have been given in Him, I marvel at the love and generosity of Jehovah.
I have also seen that many believers live in sin, make poor choices and suffer unduly, because they have not seen or grasped the powerful blessing God has blessed us with in Christ.
Truth #1 – You Are Spirit
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John3:6
It is extremely important that we understand this truth. We are not just flesh and blood. Yes, for now, we live in a body but we are essentially spirit beings. We are not mere human beings like majority think, we are super natural beings.
This is because when we got born again, we became born of God and God is Spirit.
When we got born again, we became born of God. Click To Tweet
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13 NKJV
God Is Not Flesh
God is not flesh so He cannot give birth to flesh. Note that God created man by moulding dust into flesh but when we got born again, He birthed us, He breathed His life into us.
Our natural habitat as spirit beings is the supernatural. We live in the realm that is out of the ordinary, a place inexplicable by the world. Our place of abode is a place where the natural laws become subject to us.
It is true that the devil and his demons are spirits too, but we are superior spirit beings because we are one with God.
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV
In the above scripture, the Apostle Paul was admonishing us to keep our bodies Holy because God lives in us, because we are one with Him. God living in us explains the truth that we are not of this world, we come from a higher plane, a place called the supernatural.
The Truth Should Embolden Us
This understanding should embolden us and drive out every form of fear of Satan and his demons because we are of a higher and superior kingdom. The enemy is no match to us if we stay in the loop of our salvation.
The strength of a kingdom is determined by the strength of her king. Our God, our King is the King above all kings.
We are not ordinary. No wonder Jesus referred to those who have believed and received Him (The Word) as gods.
Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
John 10:34-35 NKJV

The things that affect the world should not toy with us. However, would have to know this truth, stay conscious of it at all times, and enforce it in our lives, otherwise we will not live it.
Truth #2 – You Have Power Over Sin
With the understanding that we are spirit beings who operate from a supernatural place of power and authority. We should walk in the truth of our dominion over sin.
As long as we stay alive to God, conscious that we were crucified with Christ in baptism and are dead to our flesh, we will no longer be enslaved to sin. No doubt the flesh will try to rise but we must constantly keep it under, where it belongs.
I hear some believers say, “We are flesh and blood, we cannot be free from sin”. They often say this to make excuses for a sinful behaviour, because they feel helpless from sin. The pull of sin can be very strong but we must esteem God’s word as truth regardless of the situation.
We have dominion over sin. Click To Tweet
If God’s word says sin shall not have dominion over me. Then believe it, every word of it. We must understand that there is a difference between error and living in sin. A believer that makes a practice of sin is not taking dominion over sin.
How To Take Dominion Over Sin
To take dominion over sin means we take note of the areas where then enemy is working at enslaving us and deal with it until we practically subdue it.
Let me explain, the bible says we are tempted when we are drawn by our own desires.
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. James 1:14 NKJV
For example, a person who desires to be seen as a good person would lie in order to create a certain impression about him or herself. So would a person who does not want to take responsibility for their actions.
Many times the enemy would tempt us in the areas of our carnal desires. It becomes necessary then, that we deal with the problem from the root.
We must influence our desires by God's word. Click To Tweet
When we change our desires, we rule over sin. We must fill ourselves with God’s truth, God’s word, so much so that those desires will no longer get a hold of us. When we do, even in the heat of the moment, we will find the escape God has made for us when we are tempted. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Walk In The Spirit
If we live and walk in the Spirit, we will not yield to the desires that lead to sin.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 NKJV
God’s word and His Spirit are one. If we fill ourselves with His word, spend quality time with Him, and meditate continually on His word, we increase our capacity in the spirit and the flesh’s control will diminish and dwindle.
When we are God controlled; controlled by His word and His Spirit, we will not be influenced by the flesh.
You Can Live Perfect Before God
It is possible to live a perfect life before God. Not in the sight of men, but in His sight. If it were not so, He would not say so.
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48 NKJV
Also see Genesis 17:1
God does not expect from us what we cannot do. His Spirit is in us to enable us to live righteous lives. Remember that Abraham made mistakes too but because he had faith in God, trusted Him and obeyed Him and God called Him His friend.
It takes faith to please God. Hebrews 11:6 Click To Tweet
We must note that God did not live in Abraham as He lives in us. We have the ability right inside of us, to put sin under.
So the goal here is to do everything required, to keep our faith and dependence on God intact, when we do that, sin will not have rule over us.
Truth #3 – You Are Not Punished For Your Parents’ Sins
Some believers passing through challenges have been taught that they are paying for the sins of their parents. They site Deuteronomy 9-10
You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
I have wondered at this verses too until I read
Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin. Deuteronomy 24:16 NKJV
I will not pay for my parent's sins. Click To Tweet
See Jeremiah 31:29-30 and Ezekiel 18:1-4
When I read these and other bible passages, I understood that if a man continues in the sin of his fathers he will be punished for it, but if he turns to God and walks in obedience to God, he will not be held accountable for his father’s sin.
You Are Free From Sin
I have seen how the devil uses this scripture to distract believers. They spend countless hours binding and casting, and praying unnecessary prayers. While all they need to do is declare the forgiveness they have received in Christ and disconnect themselves from every reproach the enemy seeks to put on them.
As a believer, if the enemy ever tells you that you are being punished for what your parents did. Tell him he is a liar, and point him to the cross, point him to God’s word.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV
For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the East is from the West, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11-12 NKJV
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36 NKJV Click To Tweet
Truth #4 – You Have Power Over Darkness
He (God)has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Colossians 1:13 NKJV
Darkness in all forms and sizes flee at the instance of even the tiniest flicker of light. And the bigger and brighter the light, the further the darkness flees.
God has moved us out of the kingdom of darkness, so darkness has no right or authority over us. Darkness should flee from the presence of a child of God.
We should shine our light rather than entertain darkness. Click To Tweet
When we sense that the powers of darkness are coming against us we should arise in faith, as light, speak into that darkness and watch it flee from us. God showed us how in Genesis 1:3
When we see darkness, rather than crying and pleading, we ought to speak like our Father; “Light be!”
Forms Of Darkness And Our Victory
Sin, sickness, pain, diseases, lack and all things that are not good are the works of the powers of darkness. When the enemy is oppressing a mind or tormenting a soul, all we need to do is speak God’s word. Remember that God’s word IS Light. So when we speak God’s word into a dark situation we are commanding light into that darkness.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:1-5 NKJV
I must mention here that the word of God from our lips must go forth by faith, otherwise we will not see our desired result.
Truth #5 – You Have A New Bloodline
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26 NKJV
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12 NKJV
It is medically proven that some diseases are hereditary. We must have either seen or heard of a person who is suffering from cancer because his father or mother had cancer. Same goes with diabetes, high blood pressure and some other diseases.
The truth however is, you are a child of God and the blood of Jesus flows in and through you. You carry eternal life, not the life of your parents or grand parents.

You Have God’s Genes
Remember we said earlier that you are born of God’s spirit. A child of God cam only inherit God’s genes. In God’s genes there is no sickness, heart disease, alcoholism and all those things people fear might happen to them because it happened to their parents.
Again, only a believer who has this understanding can, by faith, declare his/her disconnection from her family and all the ills if any, in their genes and establish his/her connection to God by the blood of Jesus.
We don’t have to suffer what our fore fathers suffered. We have a new bloodline, a new gene, a new DNA. God’s life is in us. He came to give us His life, and that without measure.
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10B NKJV
Conclusion
There are so many other truths in God’s word concerning what our new birth has bequeathed us. If we do not know them and enforce them, we will struggle in our faith, in our walk with God and in life.
Walking with God does not stop troubles and challenges from coming against us. In fact the enemy is set against every child of God, but thank God we have victory in Christ.
We must embrace the truth in God’s word, live it, and declare it, so that we can enjoy the life and victory God has already won and handed to us as a gift.
When we pray, we must pray from the point of our victory, not as victims. God has already made us overcomers and my prayer is that we all will enter the fullness of the life and victory God has given us.
Did you know these truths?
Have you discovered any truth we ought to embrace?

Posted at 20:33h, 20 NovemberOh, my dear sister! This is SO full of life-giving encouragement! I needed it desperately at this time. One thing the Lord has been showing me is how He promised His people that He would remove the Egyptian diseases from among them. I have been claiming that, along with so many other Divine truths. Truth is the only thing that will dispel the lies of the enemy. God help us to speak life and light into the darkness, as you said. You are such a dear encouragement to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
