How God’s Word Delivered Me From Death

God's word delivered me

How God’s Word Delivered Me From Death

My third son’s birth was the swiftest and easiest. I did not anticipate that anything could go wrong… but I almost died… this is the story of how God’s word spoken in faith saved me from the hands of the spirit of death.
I was in my due month of delivery for my third baby whom I seriously hoped was going to be a girl. I refused to ask for the baby’s sex all the time I went for scan, I told them not to tell me and I did not look at the screen… story for another time.
Anyway, it was mid day and the church we were pastoring then had just ended a conference, I had accompanied my mother in the gospel to the airport and returned home when I noticed blood stains in my underwear. I knew it was time to have my baby and I told my husband it was just the “show” as my Obstetrician had told me. I decided to take a quick shower, but as a I was rounding up I felt a gush of blood run down my legs, I do not like seeing blood like that and I refused to look down. I finished, got dressed and my husband drove me to the hospital.
I had to be induced as the contractions were not as fast as the doctor thought it should be, I didn’t have to wait for too long before my baby was born. It was swift and the contractions were easy to deal with. The attending nurse was sweet and skilled too, with her help I had my baby without an episiotomy. Any woman that has experienced an episiotomy/tear, whether it occurred on its own or was given by the doctors/nurses will understand the joy of not having to go through that with all the rigours involved in Sitz baths.

Death Came Calling
I was taken into the post natal ward after I was cleaned up and few minutes later the visitors started pouring in, church family and friends… It was towards evening when the last set of visitors were getting ready to leave that I began feeling drowsy and dizzy, their voices began sounding like they were very far away and all I heard was very faint echoes.
My husband had barely stepped into the room from walking them out when I mustered enough strength to tell him I was soaked in my blood and I couldn’t quite move.

The last thing I remember seeing was him trying to reach the doctor on his phone and I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore… A cloud came over me and darkness seemed to surround me as they wheeled me into the operating room. I heard the hospital directress praying, it sounded like she was miles away and her prayers sounded like quite echoes.

Out of  my heart and mouth proceeded the words “I have the life of Christ in me.”, I kept muttering it, I don’t know if the people around heard me or even saw my lips move, but I refused to stop, know that the enemy wanted to end my life and make my husband a widower and my children motherless… he wanted to stop me from fulfilling my days… which was against God’s word. God has promised to satisfy my with long life…
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. 16  With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 NKJV

It came to a point when I could barely hear the far away echoes and the darkness got even thicker and I seemed to be floating in it. I did not stop saying to myself that I have the life of Christ in me… Jesus says that if I partake in His flesh and blood then I have life… John 6:53

Ephesians 3:17 says that Jesus lives in me because I believe. He lives in me by reason of the new birth and I share in His life. I kept on speaking those words…
The life of Christ swallows death, Christ’s life in me overcomes even the darkest, thicket darkness and I was not going to keep quite and allow the enemy to rob me of the life I had been given by God.

I kept speaking those words, even in my heart when my lips could no longer move, I began hearing the echoes like in the beginning and felt faint smacks from the hospital directress as she kept speaking life over me and calling me back… it was the doctor’s needle pinch that brought me back to the awareness of my physical surroundings.

The Cause
I had sustained a tear way inside, in my pelvic area, and blood was flowing freely from it. The doctor stitched me up and the bleeding stopped.
I mentioned the blood incident to him before delivery and after I gave birth he had looked to make sure there was no tear. But you know, when the devil is at work, he tries to be sneaky but he cannot outwit God.
While I was super excited that I had no episiotomy, the enemy had other things in mind but God is greater!

God’s Word Is Our Salvation
The power in God’s word is the power of God. God’s word is so powerful that nothing and no-one can withstand, stop, over power or overcome it.

The word of God contains the very power of God.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

According to Strong’s Definition, Salvation means rescue or safety (Physically or Morally)

According to Thayer’s definition, it means deliverance, preservation and safety

Here is another powerful verse; He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20 NKJV
We see from this verse that God’s word is His power unto rescue, safety, deliverance, preservation, healing, safety and another evil the enemy holds up against you.

Life is in the word of God;
Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 to the devil when he tempted Him, He said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
Life, real life, God’s kind of life and all the grace, power and blessings it contains, is found in His word. As we read, believe, meditate on, speak and obey God’s word, we take on all that God’s life has to offer us.

I believe that if I had kept quiet that day, if I had not thought about God’s word, believed it and spoken it, the darkness that sought to engulf me would have succeeded and I wouldn’t be here, writing this now.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

I was able to appropriate the victory Christ won for me by speaking God’s word out in faith. God’s word is not for believing only, it is for speaking.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth… Joshua 1:8 NKJV
Jesus in Mark 11:23-24 says that we shall have what we say, as long as we say it having the God kind of faith. Of course, we cannot have God’s kind of faith and speak words that are not inline with His word.

We cannot have God’s kind of faith and speak contrary words. Click To Tweet

Now, you cannot speak God’s word if you don’t have it stored up in your heart. Like the whole of Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) says;
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
In order to be able to win with God’s word we must study it, meditate on it, speak it and obey it.

Labour In The Word
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Matthew 24:25 NKJV
God’s word is powerful and eternal. It does not fail, fade or falter.

“Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” John 6:27 NKJV

Jesus in the above verse says we should labour for the food that does not perish. God’s word is a spiritual food that does not perish.
Getting God’s word into our spirit is hard work. It is like studying for exams… in this case it would be life’s exams. We must labour in God’s word, we must work hard at reading, studying and meditating on God’s word. We cannot be casual with it or neglect it. Our very lives depend on it. Remember Matthew 4:4 The enemy will do everything to stop us from giving God’s word the priority it demands, requires and deserves. So many genuine reasons why we cannot read the word of God will always glare at us but we MUST make time for God’s word every single day.

We must read God’s word like we are searching for a treasure and His word is a special treasure. Not just flipping through but reading it like we are in search of truth, truth that applies to us personally, the truth that makes us free and gives us victory.
When we read God’s word, asking help from The Holy Spirit, we will always find a treasure in it. As we find the word, we must think on it and speak it to ourselves until it becomes part of us.

When we will need it, we won’t need to go the the bible or any device to search for it, it will flow naturally from our spirit.
Remember that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21 We cannot afford to be silent while the enemy seeks to make a mess of our lives. We ought  to put our tongues to good use by speaking our victories in order to win the many battles the enemy throws at us.

We Have The Power
We can choose what we want by applying God’s word according to His directions. We cannot keep quite and watch the enemy make a mess. We must take the word of God and implant it into our hearts so that when we need it, it will flow freely out of our mouths into the atmosphere and change the unpleasant situation.
The choice is ours, we can join the world to speak death or we can team up with God and speak life, by His word.

God’s word does not fail, fade or falter. Click To Tweet

We can choose to allow God’s word to work freely and give us the salvation, the healing, the deliverance, the breakthrough, the security, the preservation and the victories we need.
It is al up to us!

Will you speak God’s word?
Will you allow God’s word work for your victory?

I greatly praise the Lord with you for this victory after childbirth. I can imagine how it feels when life begins to sap out of a person. It’s not a pleasant experience in any way. Moreover, the fears and insecurities that flood the heart at such times, even near unconciousness can amplify the lethality of the blow.

However, those who know their God will be strong and do exploits. God has shown us what is good and what He requires of us. This is principally through the Scriptures, (breathed upon by Holy Spirit).

Lord Jesus said: “search the scriptures, for in them ye think he have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me”. Search the word, know the Word and be like the Word.

Pleasant regards to you Dear Ugochi.

I tell you, God must really be trying to get across the message of how important it is that we speak His Word into existence…I have seen SO much about this lately. Have you ever read the book by Charles Capps called “God’s Creative Power”? It has been such a dear blessing to me so many times…as have you, my friend. May God bless you abundantly!!

Have a super blessed day sister!
