07 Jun How To Make Room For God’s Blessing In Your Life
If you thought that the only reason God took the time to come down here, made Himself like ordinary mortal men through the womb of a woman, died a gruesome and shameful death, is just so we can die and spend forever with Him, you might have to have a rethink.
To get the idea of God’s Plan for man, to get a grasp of why He created man and how he wanted man’s life to be, we must of a necessity go to the book of beginnings; the book of Genesis.
God’s plan for man from the beginning was a stress free life. A life where man does not have to toil and sweat for a living. God had instructed Adam to dress and keep the garden but if you think of it, there was no thorn or weed to pull out, there was no need for manual watering of the garden as God had provided rivers to water the ground.
So the kind of work Adam had to do didn’t require sweating or hard labour. That was before the fall.
Notice that before God created man, He had put every other thing in place, He had ensured that everything man would ever need was already provided. All Adam needed to do was look after the blessing and watch it yield for him.
Why is it difficult for some believers to agree that God wants us to live a prosperous life on earth? Click To Tweet
I believe it is the enemy at work, wanting us to live below God’s promises and blessings for us. All through scriptures you find godly men and women who live prosperous lives on earth. Abraham, Joseph, Esther, Job and Daniel, to mention a few.
There are two extreme schools of though; while some think godliness equals poverty or an impoverished lifestyle, some others think that prosperity is a sign of godliness…
I know from The Bible, that God has called us to righteous living and an all round blessed life too.
So why is it that some believers are not quite experiencing the blessings of God promised us by our Father? I believe it is because they have not made room for God’s blessing to be manifest in their lives.
How To Make Room For God’s Blessing
In order to make room for God, there are certain things we must stay aware of.
1. We Are Not Our Own
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. Isaiah 43:1 NKJV
You see, we belong to God. We did not create ourselves or save ourselves, neither is it by ourselves and strength that we live and breathe.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV Emphasis are mine
We need to KNOW that we do not own ourselves and our lives. Click To Tweet
If we realize this, it will gives us a whole new perspective on whom we ought to live for and how we ought to live. We must stop living our lives as if it is ours, we must stop living it the way we want and begin living as though we are accountable to God because we are.
Seeking Him first, with our first and best is an acknowledgement that He is The Owner and Lord of our lives. Matthew 6:33 says to seek Him above all else.
God will not compete with anything or anyone over us, He is a jealous God and wants to seat right in the centre of our hearts all the time.
Acknowledging God as the owner of our lives is the first step to making room for His blessings to be made manifest in our lives.
2. Believe God’s Word
It is impossible to please God without faith. Hebrews 11:6 And we know that when God is pleased with a man, He will ensure that His goodness is made known to the man.
We shouldn’t let this frighten us because we all have faith, every one who has believed in Jesus and accepted His redemptive work has faith.
…as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. Romans 12:3
The challenge is, some times we find it difficult to believe God for what we have categorized “a big blessing” because we think it is for a select few. But the blood of Jesus has qualified us for every blessing promised by God in His word. Yet we pick and choose the blessings we have categorized as small, because we think those are the ones we have qualified for.
When we believe all of God’s word and promises concerning us, we make room for His blessings to manifest in our lives.
3. Speak His Word
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak. 2 Corinthians 4:13 NKJV
Our faith is not complete until we have spoken it out aloud to ourselves, our circumstances and even for others to hear. God commanded that we do not let His words depart from our lips… Joshua 1:8
When we speak God’s word we release His power in the atmosphere, over our lives and over unpleasant situations and cause things to align with God’s word.
And we see in Matthew 12:34b that we can only speak what our hearts are full off, hence the need for us to fill our hearts with God’s word by constantly reading, studying and meditating on His word.
Speaking and declaring God’s word makes room for God in our lives and causes His blessings to be manifested in our lives.
4. Obey His Word
Obedience to God’s word is the whole essence of our living. We were created to please Him, to bring Him pleasure. Revelation 4:11 And we all know that a child who obeys His fathers always find’s favour with him, God is no different, obedience to His word gives us a special place in His heart.
God says that the way He knows that we love Him is our obedience to His commands. John 14:15
The blessing of obedience is clearly written in Deuteronomy 28:1-13
For space, I will include only verses 1 and 2, I suggest you take time to read on in your bible to verse 13.
Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
The blessings of obedience in these verses cover all areas of our lives.
When we diligently obey God’s word, we make room for God to make His blessings manifest in our lives. Click To Tweet
- Obedience to God’s word by walking in love 1 John 4:21
- Obedience to God’s word by praying 1 Thessalonians 5:17
- Obedience to not worry or be anxious Philippians 4:6, Matthew 6:31
- Obedience to God’s word by giving Luke 6:38
- Obedience to God’s word by being joyful Philippians 4:4, Isaiah 12:3
- Obedience to every command and instruction God gives will allow Him pour out His blessings in us like He desires.
God is all powerful, He can do anything and everything, but He cannot go against His laws. When we live our lives like we want to, not considering what He wants, we stay His blessings from being made manifest in our lives.
God has more than enough blessings to go round. We have to position ourselves to enjoy them all, we have to prepare intentionally.
If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land. Isaiah 1:19 NKJV
When we acknowledge Him as owner of our lives, believe His word, and obey His commands, we make room for His blessings to be established in our lives.
So what is it going to be?
Will you make room for God and His blessings to be manifest in your life?
