Five Things God Longs For Us To Know

Five Things God Longs For Us To Know

I hope you had a great Easter celebration this long weekend! It is a time of reflection as we think on all that Christ did for us in His death and resurrection. Everything God did for us in Christ Jesus, he did because he loves us, He did it to show how much He loves us. If there is anything God wants us to get a grasp off, it is the depth of His love for us. God created us to have a love relationship with Him. We ought to be His bride and stay actively in love with Him. Jesus came to demonstrate practically God’s love for man, He did it in a way that nobody else has ever done.
The moment any man encounters this love, God’s love, understands it and begins living in it, it changes the life of the man completely.

God Wants Us To Know His Love For Us

That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; Ephesians 3:18-19

God longs so much for us to know His love for us. He wants us to know and understand how much He loves us, He longs for us to know the depth of His love for us. He wants us to understand that His love for us drove Him to the cross, His love drove Him to die for us.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

God Wants Us To Love Him Back

We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
It feels very great when someone you love, loves you back doesn’t it? Imagine how God feels when after loving us unto death some still do not love Him. God wants us to reciprocate the love he has shown and still demonstrates to us.
He longs for our love, he wants to have an active love relationship with us, He wants us to spend time with Him and seek Him at all times.
The one major way to love God back is to obey His word. When my children do what I say, I feel loved and respected, God knows we love Him, when we do what He says.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15

God Wants Us To Trust In His Love

God wants us to go beyond just knowing His love to trusting in His love. He wants us to know that every thing He commands us to do is because He loves us. He wants us to know that He has our best interest at heart. He wants us to know that even when His directions seem to lead us to tough times, He is working for our good. He wants us to know that we are of great value to Him and matter very much to Him.
I remember when my husband was trying to teach our son to swim, he was about 3 years old at the time. Immediately his dad took him into the water, he let out a scream telling his dad to take him out, my husband tried to convince him that he was with him and will not let anything happen to him but the young man insisted.
Then my husband in a final bid to make him stay in the pool asked, ‘Son, don’t you trust me!
‘No daddy, no, I don’t trust you!’ The little guy responded in flustered by fear.
God does not want us to fear anything, he wants us to know that no matter what, we are safe in His love. He wants us to trust in His love so much so that we are assured in our hearts that His hands are holding us.

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Isaiah 43:1-2 NKJV

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Isaiah 49:16

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7

God Wants Us To Walk In His Love

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV
We are not of this world even though we live in it. Our lifestyle should be different from the worlds, it should be characterized by love. When we love God and obey His word, we walk in love. When we love others as He has commanded we walk in love. We cannot claim to love God when we do not love our fellow men.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen 1 John 4:20

To walk in love is to relate with everyone we meet based on God’s love. It means relating with others according to the characteristics of love in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7:
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
In Romans 5:5, we see that God has already put His love in our hearts by His Holy Spirit. Our lives should be a love walk, showing others what God and His love looks like.

God Wants Us To Share His Love

We ought to be channels to share God’s love to others. He wants us to tell others about His love and lead them into the knowledge of Christ and His work for us on Calvary. He expects that His love which we have come to know, believe in, respond to and walk in, should compel us to share it with others. He wants us to be ambassadors of His love, making His love known to others, telling them of His love as we preach His gospel of reconciliation to them.

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NKJV

Have you encountered God’s love?
Are you living in His love?

Wonderful advice, sweet friend. I am so thankful for His love…it seems the older I get, the more I appreciate it. Especially, in light of my many failures. Thank you for these gentle reminders. 🙂 God bless you!

What a sweet picture of the “Father’s heart” in the illustration of your young son’s fear with his own earthly father, Ugochi. Our Father wants us to trust Him but sometimes our humanness gets in the way, doesn’t it! But yes, understanding God’s love is such a crucial aspect that helps us to trust Him more and more. Thank you for this encouraging word, my friend!
