I Want To See God!

I Want To See God!

I remember as a four year old child always taking News Papers from my father when he gets home from work, I would settle down some where and attempt to read the news. I wanted to know what was going on in our world, I wanted to be able to discuss the news with my parents and older siblings…I always loved knowledge as a child. I read every book I could find in our house (my father was a teacher long before I was born before going into other parts of civil service, my mother retired as a teacher not so many years ago), so we had all kinds of books at home.
So, when I gave my life to Christ, I started reading my Bible and any Christian literature I could lay my hands on. I wanted to know how to see this God that I have come to trust my life with.

I wanted to know about This Faith and Fate I have chosen, I wanted to know and see God. Click To Tweet

Am I The Only One?
I know I am not the only one who wants to see God, I know I am not the only one who wants to see Him as He really is. There are several believers and even non-believers who are longing and pursuing to see God. The believers seek Him with knowledge, the non-believers not even knowing what or whom they really seek.
I know we cannot really see God, all of Him, in all of His glory, in this flesh. We can only see Him in all His fulness when our bodies are changed from mortality to immortality.
See John 1:8, Exodus 33:20, 1 Corinthians 15:51-51, and 1 Corinthians 13:12
Now we can only see God dimly not fully, but when we get home we shall see Him face to face.

If you have ever ‘been’ in God’s manifest presence even for a second then you can understand why it would be an indescribable delight to get to be in His presence forever and ever.
But while we await that awesome pleasure, I want to see God, here and now, even if it is just a glimpse.

Like Moses, I want to be in such a close communion with God that His glory would rub off on me…

Now how in the world am I going to be able to see God like Moses, Abraham and the others who saw Him?

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8 NKJV

It takes a pure heart to see God.
What does it mean to have a pure heart? Who can be said to be pure in heart?
One whose minds, intentions, motives, values, and principle are pure.
One whose heart is sincere and upright; no hypocrisy, evil thoughts, desires, emotions…
One whose hearts desire is always to please God.

Blessed are the pure in heart…
How To Keep A Pure Heart.
A heart that is pure is one that has been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ through faith.

And if under the old system the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of young cows could cleanse men’s bodies from sin, just think how much more surely the blood of Christ will transform our lives and hearts. His sacrifice frees us from the worry of having to obey the old rules and makes us want to serve the living God. For by the help of the eternal Holy Spirit, Christ willingly gave himself to God to die for our sins—he being perfect, without a single sin or fault. Hebrews 9:13-14 TLB

To keep the heart pure, one must consistently:
Study God’s word in order to observe and follow His way.
My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. Proverbs 23:26 NKJV
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11 NKJV

Pursue peace with all people.
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: Hebrews 12:14 NKJV

Guard the heart by what it looks at, listens to and thinks about.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Pray and ask God to help his/her heart.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, o Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NKJV

…For they shall see God.
What does it mean to see God?
This definitely refers to the time when the saints shall be called to glory and we shall see our Father as He is. But it does not refer to that time only, here on earth we do need to see God.

The pure in heart will see God…
God will reveal Himself to them.
They will enjoy very close communion with God like Deborah, Moses, Abraham, King David.
They will be able to see His beauty, His glory; know His grace and goodness.

Wouldn’t you just love to see God in this way? Wouldn’t you just love to enjoy unceasing fellowship with Him, beholding His beauty and glory? Isn’t this something we all should crave and pursue after?

And just incase you feel like your heart needs cleansing you can call on God for a change;

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 NKJV

So now let us all…
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: Hebrews 12:14 NKJV

Will you pursue peace with all people?
Will you join me to make sure our hearts are pure and guarded from evil?
Do you want to see God as much as I do?

This post is so meaty. It’s like eating at a holiday meal! I’m going to take it bite by bite, slowly so I can digest and come back for seconds, then thirds. I was just in the Beatitudes with my son TONIGHT as I encouraged him to be a peacemaker vs a strife stirrer as I long for him to take his rightful place and be called a child of God. Blessings to you.

Praise God! It is amazing how God stirs our hearts towards same things at about the same time. I am glad to know someone else was being led in this direction too. Thanks for coming by Tyra and I pray the seed of God’s word that has been planted in your son’s tender heart takes root and bears fruits.
Do have a super blessed weekend!

We can only ‘see’ God, as believers, through the Word being enlightened to us by the Holy Spirit as we ‘work out our own salvation with fear and trembling’ as it is put in the Scriptures. We can not just be hearers of that Word as we ‘eat’ it daily, but we must be ‘doers’ of that Word spoken to us as individuals in order to grow in the body of Christ. As long as we are in the body of Christ on earth, through learning line upon line and precept upon precept, then we have the mind of Christ – Who is to us ‘the express image of God.’
    Praise God for Jesus.
