04 Feb Our End Of Year Miracle.
It was New Year’s Eve and looked like any other day. I didn’t get the feeling or hint that anything was going to go wrong. Close to midday, I headed off to the grocery store, I needed to shop for our New Year turkey marinade and get few other groceries for New Year’s Dinner.
After very few hours, one or two, I got home only to see that our dining table had gone topless. Let me explain, our dinning table had a glass about an inch thick sitting on two square wooden stands. But when I got home that afternoon, the glass was no longer there.
I was told my youngest son broke it. I wondered in shock…
- Did he beat on it with a hammer?
- Did he push it off the wooden stands?
- Did he…
When my cousin told me he had climbed on the table, my heart skipped several beats even though I tried to keep calm.
I was scared as I wondered all the possible things that might have happened to the boy. Click To Tweet
Our Boys!
Now you must understand that our boys are hardly ever tired of playing. And many times what they call play, most mothers would consider deadly. Our ten year old is especially frisky; in five minutes he could seat on all the chairs in the living room, he jumps from one chair to the other, stands on the arms of the chairs, slides down on the stair rails…
One time, last July, in a hotel we lodged in I looked up from the bed where we were lodging and saw that he was standing on a nearly 8 feet high wall that separated the room from the bathroom, in calm shock I quietly stood on the bed and reached as high as I could to bring him down. I did this quietly for fear that if I spoke he might panic and try to jump.
Mercy Said No.
Anyway, back to my dinning table story. I looked at the boy and wondered why he was standing on his feet, unruffled, unscathed, without a scratch, not even a tiny little scratch… I knew God had given my family and I a New Year’s Eve miracle.
If you know the enemy, you know that he definitely wanted so much more than a scratch on our son. He definitely meant to cause us sorrow before 2016, that was probably his last big attempt at doing what he knows to do best; Kill, steal and destroy. John 10:10a
But God said no, mercy said no, Yahweh, The life giver and sustainer did the exact opposite of what the enemy intended, He protected our son, gave him life when the enemy brought death, gave him wholeness when the enemy wanted a scar. God gave us joy when the enemy intended to bring sorrow upon us. Hallelujah!
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10b NKJV
Their Accounts.
Let me tell you how it happened from the perspective of my three sons who were all present that day. I told them to write a short note each, giving their account of the incident, so I report it as accurate as possible. I would have posted their notes but their writing will not be legible enough.
From the first;
We were watching T.V in the parlour; my brothers, our home staff and I. I went into the kitchen, meanwhile my Dad was upstairs and my little brother climbed the glass table. Our dinning table is very thick, it is about half inch thick. Our home staff told my brother to get off but he didn’t listen. As he tried to get off the table, his heels caught the glass and the whole thing shattered. We are talking about a table capable of sitting six people. He shattered it and there was not a single scratch on him. This boy is ten years old!
In the words of my second son;
God is wonderful! My little brother was being himself; jumping up and over the chairs while we were watching TV He kept jumping and landed on a dinning chair.
I don’t know why but he sat on the table and after few moments he stood on the table and jumped off. Immediately he landed on the chair, the glass table shattered to pieces. Will you believe it? A half inch glass table shattered by a ten year old and not even a scratch on him. God had him in His arms and still does! You don’t know when you might fall but God is there to pick you up whenever you do.
Now finally, in the words of the ten year old himself;
The Lord is good. I broke a glass table which should be half an inch. We were watching TV and I was sitting on the table because my older brothers were blocking me. I finally got up but as I was getting up I saw that the table was rising, then I jumped off and the table shattered on the wood. To God be the glory I did not get injured!
I couldn’t help but smile as I typed these three accounts of the incident.
One thing is sure. God gave us a miracle. A New Year’s Eve miracle and I give Him all the glory! Click To Tweet
I can imagine what went through my husband’s mind when he heard the noise, he hasn’t stopped telling about this deliverance God gave our son and our family. He was standing in the midst, but not a scratch was found on him.
God is indeed merciful and gracious! He is our Protector, our Shield, our Defence, our Deliverer!
Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. Psalm 18:2 WEB
I often pray according to the pattern Jesus gave us; Deliver me (us) from evil… Matthew 6:13b
And God does answer…
I will give you thanks in the great congregation: I will praise you among much people. Psalms 35:18
Please thank God with me for this great thing He has done for us!
I know you too have an end of year testimony, it may not be like mine, but if you are reading this, then God has given you a miracle.
- Do you have a miracle?
- Do you mind sharing with us?

Posted at 10:58h, 08 FebruaryWaoh, Thank God oooo.
My end of year testimony was a new job, which I resumed this year. The first week of resumption, the enemy struck. We had an emergency with our little girl, who is 20 months old, we had to take her to the hospital at about mid night. Thank God for great deliverance. When the bill came, I was like, God I pay my tithe oooo, but my hubby reminded me that “it could have been worse”. He loves that phrase and I agree with him, the enemy obviously meant harm and to cause us sorrow. We called upon him, in the midst of the severe shivering, the shivering stopped even before we got to the hospital.
I praise the name of the Lord.
