The Day An Iron Rubbed On Me.

The Day An Iron Rubbed On Me.

I am so sorry for the breaks in my blogging these days, I need you all to pray for me; for wisdom on how to get back in sync… Thanks for praying.

On Tuesday a dear sister of mine sent me the link to a video a passenger made of a turbulent flight he was in. I should not have watched that it knowing I was still battling with the experience I had when flying not too long ago. You can read about it here.

Like I said in that post, I had the last word, but you know the enemy never gives up, so we shouldn’t! Now each time I board a plane and there is even the slightest turbulence, the fear starts creeping up my spine and I have to war with the enemy until the plane touches ground.

I know I am winning this! I know I have the victory! Click To Tweet

Now back to the video, I will not put the video or link up here but I must tell you that It was very scary for me. After I watched it I had the following conversation with my sister:

The day an iron rubbed on me

Notice the (Os!) I exclaimed in the conersation, lol. Anyway, I was really delighted that while I spoke out of fear, she could speak faith back into my heart. Reflecting on this conversation, I realised that I am blessed to be surrounded with people who can speak me up at times like this. The word of God is truly complete…

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion]. Proverbs 27:17 AMP

Friends.
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17 NLT

This proverb deals with the influence a man has on his friend. It shows how a relationships can affect those in it. When iron is rubbed against another iron, it becomes sharp or sharper than it was. Sharpening tools are made of iron, it takes an iron to sharpen another iron.

There is power in association, power to make a positive or negative impact, depending on the kind of people we decide to associate with.

Whoso is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffereth evil. Proverbs 13:20 YLT

What if I had this conversation with  plastic, wood, or a blunt iron?
You can imagine if I brooded on that memory, reviewing that video over and over in my mind. The fear in me might have increased and taken deeper root in my spirit.

Thank God for someone who could shake my thoughts and turn my heart to God’s word, faith stemming from God’s word is indeed the only antidote to fear.

God can remind us of His word and strengthen our faith using people. The enemy can also wreck our faith and corrupt our minds using people. So it is important that we take particular care of the kind of people we hang with as what they say to us at any time can either lift us up or cause us harm like the scripture has said.
I would love for you to note that the way we respond when an iron rubs on us depends on whether we are iron, or plastic, or wood.

An iron can ONLY sharpen an iron! Click To Tweet

God used my sister to remind me that:

  • I can grow my faith to the point where fear of flying is completely destroyed.
  • I should always stick with the positive side when analysing a situation.
  • I must never allow fear to rub me of finding joy and laughter even in tough circumstances.

I want to thank God for my sister and friend, I know you might probably be reading this right now. God used you to lift my spirit!!!

Has an iron ever rubbed on you like this?
Have you ever been a sharpening tool for someone?
