I Stopped Selling My Body.

I Stopped Selling My Body.

Please don’t ask how I got in at first. You know how it is, a desire I knew no better way to handle, the pleasure of it, I could see from their reactions that the men liked my body, and that in itself was very thrilling, somebody likes me, but most importantly it paid my bills.
The Need To Grow Up.
For how long would I depend on my parents? Besides they couldn’t do much for me anymore, my needs were way too much for them, I had to look like my peers, couldn’t afford to be mocked by them.  And in my city there was not plenty a woman could do to make the kind of money I needed, but this job, boy, does it pay well! You know my house is just by the entrance to the city and I can easily attract the rich men coming in and I had quite a lot of patronage from them, keeping them warm whenever they travelled in.
But Not Satisfied.
I still felt very hollow in my heart with all that I had to enjoy. Sometimes I felt like I was just a pleasure toy, available to be used by anyone who could pay, with “no one” who really wanted me for keeps.  That was never a good feeling for me, when no one was there I would almost cry my heart out searching for true meaning, but with no clue how or where to find it.
The Two Men.
One day I saw two very good looking men walk through the city gates. I could tell they were strangers by the way they dressed and how they looked about them, I didn’t pay them any serious mind because they didn’t look like the kind of people I liked to deal with.
But wait…they started walking towards my house and I felt really funny about them, they looked very suspicious to me…and then they knocked and told me they wanted to lodge in my house, and no, they didn’t want my business, they just wanted roof over their heads. They looked like really nice gentlemen so I kept them. They might change their minds about me… I might make me some money.
No sooner had they settled down and our king sent men to me, to bring the two strangers out. From the way the messengers were looking I knew the strangers were in trouble. The king’s messengers said the men were spies from Israel, did they say Israel?!
I had had a strange dream last night, a very strange dream about all that was happening, so I hid them and lied that they had left.
Dreams Can Come True!
They had come to destroy my city and take over it, oh no! My dream was coming true right now! And I knew they could do it with their God, I have heard of Him!

How He dried up the water of the Red sea for them to come out of Egypt, and what they did to the two kings of the Amorites, how they completely destroyed them. Their God is indeed the God of Heaven and earth, there is none like Him. I had wanted to know this God but didn’t know how and right then I had the opportunity, people who could lead me to Him were with me.

I had to seize the moment! Click To Tweet
The Deal.
So I struck me a deal with them: In return for sparing their lives, they were to spare my family and I on the day of destruction. They agreed, as long as I kept their mission a secret and put out a scarlet thread which they gave to me through my window after I brought my family into the house. Deal done!
Everything happened like they said and I hoped, they destroyed the whole of my city, kept their promise, and they spared my life and that of my family as well.
The Greatest Deal!
Something more, I met their God, the most wonderful person ever! After I knew His love, how could I go back to prostitution?!  I got to know my worth, I got to know I was loved, not because I gave my body for pleasure, but because He chose to love me. A very liberating kind of love! I read His wonderful love letter to me, no man has ever written to me, more so with such pure and compelling words.
And in His love, I became grand ma to a very special person, the savior of the world, Jesus the Christ!
My story got published in a very special book-The Holy BibleJoshua Chapters 2 and 6
You Can Know This Love.
Please believe me when I tell you that you too can know this love, you too can know your worth, do not let men or women place a worth on you they could never tell you your true worth, but this God I met, He can, it was Him who created you, He can tell you, so you can value yourself for what you are truly worth.
  • Do you know your worth?
  • Have you met This God?

Isn’t it a wonderful thought? That no matter what we did in the past, God can turn it all around and redeem it…even the bad stuff…the stuff we aren’t proud of at all. I love that God placed Rahab in the lineage of Jesus. It gives us hope that He can use any of us, no matter what we have done. His grace and forgiveness encompasses all sin, praise His name. Such an encouraging post, Ugochi. God bless you, sweet sister. 🙂
