Renewing Zeal For Your Marriage

Renewing Zeal For Your Marriage

Renewing zeal for your marriageHave you ever felt like your strength is failing to hold on and continue in your marriage? Have you ever felt like you are the only one who seems to keep fighting for your marriage? Have you ever felt like your spouse has just refused to see from your point of view? Have you ever wondered if you made the right choice of a spouse? Have you ever wondered if God was even involved? Have you ever had doubts as to the love you once thought existed in your marriage? Have you ever felt like just being passive and let whatever happens happen? Has the struggle with selfishness (wanting to always have it your way because you think you know better) left you battered and bruised?
Are you thinking one or more of these thoughts right now?
Are you feeling one or more of these feelings right now?

Only Symptoms.
These are all symptoms of a dying spirit. Theses thoughts and feelings are the results of a dry and luster lacking spirit. They are off shoots of a heart that has either knowingly or unknowingly wandered far from God, a heart that has allowed experience, pain, disappointments, expectations, hurt, anger, bitterness and unforgiveness cause a disconnect from The Holy Spirit; our source of strength, comfort, passion and hope.

Believe it or not, it is the truth. When there is a disconnect from The Holy Spirit, The Living Water… Dryness is the result. When a spirit is dry, everything goes wrong, perspectives are affected, thoughts get disillusioned, reactions are chaotic and judgments are thwarted.

What To Do?
When zeal is no longer there for your marriage, you must refuse to remain in that state. You must shake off all these thoughts and feelings and find your way back to The Holy Spirit; He is The One who can restore lost zeal in any man or woman regardless of the situation. He can bring encouragement and the will to go on, to get up, and to fight on.

Go to The Word and eat until you are satisfied and energized, until you find your way out of the messiness the enemy has roped you in. The word of God is the sustaining force for your marriage.

But He replied, it has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (AMP)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 (AMP)

Get on your knees and stay there until you receive a drink, the drink that will quench the parchedness of your spirit and cause your cluttered head to think straight again.

Wait and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters… Isaiah 55:1 (AMP)

For I will pour water upon him who is thirsty and floods upon dry ground… Isaiah 44: 3 (AMP)

Spend time in worship until you receive a fresh breath from God, until you receive an infilling of The Holy Spirit. When He possesses you, you begin to see things from His perspective instead of yours.

But there is (a vital force) a spirit (of intelligence) in man, and the breath of The Almighty gives men understanding. Job 32:8 (AMP)

The Holy Ghost will vivify your spirit and inspire you with the solution to the problems in your marriage.

Do not remain in this state of despair, withdrawal or passivity! Click To Tweet

Get back to The Holy Ghost or ask for more and more of Him until you are saturated. From His point of view, the solution is easily seen, the darkness becomes light, the heart is mended and comfort and joy is restored.

But they that wait upon The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

I’ve been in this place you’ve described, Ugochi. Thankfully, it’s been many years ago. But it was during that dark and dry time that God taught me how to remain abiding in Him–just as you’ve described above. Thanks for your continual spiritual encouragement to us. It is making an impact, my friend, and I pray that those who feel this hopelessness in marriage will find your words and be encouraged!

I think most people, including yours truly have gone through these times. Only thing is that some recognize the root cause while some don’t quite. Thanks for your constant encouragement Beth, you have been a blessing.

This is right on point. I went through this phase several years back and the suffering was unimaginable. Somehow, by Divine help, not even having to talk with anyone,I got on to the real problem – personal spiritual disconnect! Got back on track and I saw differently. More grace, Sister!

Amen! A disconnect from God is very hazardous to any person or marriage. We always have to ensure to stay connected.
