Vital Things Christians Must Remember- Part 2

Vital Things Christians Must Remember- Part 2

I believe there are things every Christian must keep in mind as we run this race, to help us keep focused and reach our goal. I shared the first part of this all important topic last week and you can go on click here to read it. In this concluding part, I share five more things in addition to the first six from the first part.

7. Love Is The Foremost Trademark Of A True Believer

Christianity is not just a declaration or a title to carry about. It is not in the bumper stickers, pious looks, cross chains, wristbands and judgmental stances. Our Lord Jesus has declared that the identity of those who really follow Him is their love walk with Him and others. He says we cannot say we love Him when we cannot love our fellow men.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35

8. You Are Not Supposed To Blend

We make ourselves God’s enemies if we are friends with the world. To be friends with the world means to conform to the world and its lust. It means to mind earthly things and “play along” with the ways of the world. It means satisfying fleshy desires and disregarding The Spirit.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord… and I will receive you. 2 Corinthians 6:17

9. You Must Choose Your Friends

I agree that Jesus wined and dined with sinners and barbarians. He did this just like Apostle Paul, that He might save some. When it came to friendship and companionship, when it came to the people who He spent His time with, people He shared His heart and life with, He chose them. He chose the twelve, though one was a betrayer, He did not set out as one. Jesus chose His friends; we should too.

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20

Now, who is a fool?

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 14:1

10. You Must Render Accounts

Since God owns us and sent us here, we are accountable to Him for the way we live the life He gave us. A day is coming when we must render account of our lives, gifts, talents, opportunities, assignments, riches and all He has bestowed upon us on this side of eternity.

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:12

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one of us may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10

11. You Are Privileged And Blessed

In an attempt to quantify the privileges, and blessedness of being a follower of Christ… Besides getting to escape hell and its everlasting torment, we get to spend forever with God in all His glory. I will list a few verses of scripture to highlight the blessing of following Christ; to encourage you to keep your focus on God and His kingdom in the midst of the temporal challenges we have to face on earth.

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 14: 2 (ESV)

I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; Psalm 82:6 (ESV)

And I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, Luke 22:29 (ESV)

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3

I believe these are important things we must not lose sight of so we can keep our focus in the midst of the many distractions we have to contend with. I know for sure this list can go beyond these, if you know what else we must add, go on and leave it in the comment box or just share your thoughts.

Beautiful post, Ugochi, filled with Bible truth. May they know we are Christians by our love, and may we glorify Him by being separate from the world and yet being salt and light to it. Many blessings to you and your ministry,
    Laurie
