30 Jan Vital Things Christians Must Remember- Part 1
It is always good to remind ourselves as Christians, of things important to us and our lives so as to evaluate our lives and purpose and also make necessary changes, adjustments and improvements where necessary. This is all very important for those who are born again in Christ and hold Him as Lord and saviour, so that we can keep our focus in this very distracting world and enjoy our lives with God here on earth.
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 2 Peter 1: 12
Here is part one of a few of things I think we should strive to remember…
1. This Life Is A Battle
One thing we must never forget is that the life we live here is a battle. The moment you decamped from the enemy you got enlisted into God’s Army and the enemy will not let you go without a fight. The enemy is a very busy devil, he fights tooth and nail to ensure you do not enjoy God’s promises here on earth and His promised eternal rest. You must constantly fight back with the weapons God has provided us in His word, you must endeavour to be on the offensive rather than the defensive, you must stand on your guard and never back down so that the victories Christ won for you on the cross does not elude you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your enemy the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
You do not need an armour when there is no battle to fight.
2. You Have Victory In Christ
It is true we have wars to fight but in Christ we have assured victories if we follow His battle plan.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.Romans 8:37
3. You Cannot Be Here A Little And There A Little
There is no sitting on the fence with God. You have to be for Him, spirit, soul and body, nothing withheld. It is a complete turn from the devil, the flesh and the world. It is an absolute surrender to Him and His ways.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3: 15, 16
4. This World Is Not Your Home, So Don’t Settle
We must keep this in mind or we would get carried and lost by and the challenges we face and the events going on around us. And if we are not careful, we would lose sight of whose we are, who we are, what we are about and where we are going.
For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Hebrews 13:4 (NLT)
5. You Are Not Your Own
You do not belong to yourself, you were created and sent into the earth by someone: God Almighty. And you must always remember that His eyes are on you, supplying you grace, watching and hoping that you would live like you owe your life to Him… because you do.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19
6. Trouble Is Inevitable
Being a Christian does not equal being free from trouble. Failure to remember this will frustrate a believer and might make him or her point fingers at God. He never promised us easy peasy lives ones we turn to Him. He only promised that He would deliver us from evil or give us grace to bear up under troubles.
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 1 Timothy 3:12
…In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
