Today's WordBeloved, do not imitate evil, but imitate good. He who does good is of God; he who does evil has not seen (discerned or experienced) God [has enjoyed no vision of Him and does not know Him at all]. 3 John 1:11 AMP

There is nothing bad with imitating people. The scriptures encourage us to be copycats, the only difference is God wants us to copy Him, hence He wants us to copy good only. The people you copy must be people who in turn are copying God and good. Any one who is not copying God is not worth copying.
Who you imitate determines who you become and how you end up in life.
Who are your role models?  Who/what have you made examples to follow? Are they following God, self or the world?
If you have been following someone who is not following or imitating God, you can severe your followership now and turn aright to follow God and godly examples. If you follow a person who does not know and follow God, you are following a fool and the end is not pleasant. Proverbs 13:20
