12 Dec The Knowledge That Gives Me Peace
There is so much agitation in the air right now as people evaluate the passing year. They look back at January with all the dreams, goals and expectations they had from the year’s beginning and sigh in disappointment at how little or none of their expectations and desires have been met.
Some point accusing fingers to God telling Him of how unfaithful He has been concerning His promises in His word that they have been holding on to through the year and they dwell on what has not happened so long that they begin to sink into depression.
God Is Faithul
One thing that really helps me when I do not get what I want when I want it is the knowing that God is faithful to His Word and His children. He does not make empty promises; he does not need to impress anyone. When He promises a thing, He makes sure it comes to pass.
God isn’t a man that he would lie, or a human being that he would change his mind. Has he ever spoken and not done it, or promised and not fulfilled it? Numbers 23:19 (CEB)
The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness… 1 Peter 3:9 (AMP)
It is only a question of timing.
God will give us not just what we want, but what we need at the right time, and He alone knows the right time, the best time. Tweet this
- He promised David and anointed Him King but He knew the best time for him to ascend the throne. After His enemy: King Saul and the heir apparent Jonathan had passed.
- Zachariah and Elizabeth were covenant children of God and for many years they served Him faithfully while they believed Him for a child. But God knew the best time to give them their child: when it was about time for the saviour to be born so that he could be his forerunner.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (AMP)
He Has My Best Interest At Heart
The most reassuring knowledge of them all is that no matter how many desires I have unmet, no matter how many unanswered prayers, no matter how many unfulfilled dreams, no matter how many unmet expectations GOD HAS MY BEST INTEREST AT HEART. He knows what is best for me, when it is best for me, and how it is best for me.
I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)
He only wants me to trust His judgment knowing that He is the all-seeing, all-knowing and all-powerful God. If I allow Him he will not let me be blessed with something that will destroy me, or let me be blessed at a time I cannot handle the blessing, a time when the enemy can easily snatch it away from me.
And trust I must because, God is the only one I can trust, he knew me even before time began, He made me and sent me into this world, he alone knows what best to do for me and when best to make it happen in order for me to fulfill the purpose He has carved out for me. I am thankful that He thinks well for me.
I will trust Him, will you?

Posted at 00:44h, 15 DecemberAmen to that! I trust Him! So often we make our plans then hand them over to God for His approval. We forget what scripture says…
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3
Sometimes we get it backwards. Seeking our own will then checking in to see it aligns. If we align ourselves first, HE WILL establish the plans for us! How much disappointment would be saved if I did things His way instead of my own?

Posted at 14:36h, 14 DecemberBeautifully said! I was recently in a study where we talked about this subject. Abraham’s promise took several generations to be fulfilled. Joseph sat in servitude/prison for 20 years before he saw his dream come true… we can’t see the whole picture the way God can. His timing is perfect and his promises are true!

Posted at 17:03h, 14 December{Melinda} Such a great post. Where I get tripped up sometimes is the fear that what is in my best interest might be quite painful, at least in the short-term. I’ve been asking God to help me trust Him even in the midst of pain and circumstances I don’t like or understand fully. (Or at all!) I think this will be a continual life-long journey for all of us.

Posted at 17:39h, 12 DecemberDefinitely! Word! Hebrews 6: 18 says it is impossible for God to lie, that is the hope that I have as an anchor for my soul, when things are not going the way I want. I always go back to Hebrews 6. God cannot promise and He wont do it, It is IMPOSSIBLE .
Thanks for these words I need them at this point in my life. God bless you

Posted at 14:40h, 12 DecemberAmen, couldn’t of said it better myself. We are Gods children and He knows best. We need to put more faith in Him and know that He is always there and will never leave us nor forsake us. His time is the best timing, even when we don’t see it the answer we are looking for, he shows up just in the nick of time.
