20 Nov Steady Advancement
Every believer is expected to grow in the spirit. After being born again we cannot remain the same as we were before the new birth. We cannot keep struggling with the same sins we were involved in as unbelievers. Sins must be conquered and progress significantly measurable. We must grow past continual repentance of the same sin…repenting and going back to it, repenting and going back to it… God expects us to grow in grace and towards perfection. Spiritual growth must be desired and deliberately pursued. Praying for grace, studying the word and doing the word. Spiritual stagnation will eventually lead to decline, retrogression, backsliding…
God expects us to be perfect (Genesis 17:1) and we can be because His perfect Holy Spirit lives in us and walks with us. We must all keep advancing, growing up, growing into maturity.
Therefore let us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity. Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God. Hebrews 6:1 (AMP)
