There Are Benefits Of Following Christ

I have to say I have enjoyed blessings following Christ. When I say blessings you naturally think of “stuff’”, but I have been blessed with tangible and intangible things (the intangible things are more precious to me) since I started this journey a little over a decade and a half ago, and I would not trade my relationship with Him for anything or anyone. I must say that the benefits I want to share here are not complete because everyone has their individual experiences, but there are some that are common to everyone who has become a member of God’s family.

1. Peace With God

It is amazing how the confusion and uncertainty in this life comes to a hush when someone establishes a relationship and a walk with7 Christ. You are at peace with God and yourself and this throws colour into your life, just the knowing that nothing is standing between you and God The Creator and Father. Knowing this keeps your heart in peace, you live your live in this chaotic world in peace.
Following Christ grants us access to God that we couldn’t have otherwise. We can call on God anytime and from any place and we are certain He listens. Before Christ there was a veil of separation created by sin, that would not allow us into God’s presence, but the death of Jesus tore the veil apart and now all who believe can go in freely. Every partition is removed and we have peace with God.

But now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2: 13

2. Joy Unspeakable

This comes naturally in any life that is following Christ sincerely. Things may be falling apart all around but still there is a deep seated joy in the heart, knowing that God is still God, he is in control and He has the best in heart for all members of His family.
This joy cannot be understood by carnal hearts and minds, even those who know this joy can hardly explain it. You have to know it to even begin to understand it.

For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Psalm 33:21 ESV

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Romans 5:11 (ESV)

3. Knowledge Of Love

You can never know love apart from Jesus. I am a typical example, I thought I knew love; I thought I knew what it meant to love and be loved until I met Christ. I discovered all I thought I knew was a lie. Following Christ makes you know love in its real sense; love that is limitless and endless.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5

4. Better Relations

Knowing true love makes it easier for you to truly love and also know when you see true love. You now know how to treat people, how to handle even the most difficult persons, plus, you now have the ability to do so. Romans 5:5
Outside Christ you might sometimes want to love, but the power to do so is absent because you do not have Love (Christ) in you.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

5. Healthy Lifestyles

Following Christ enables you to see habits that are destructive to your spirit, soul and body and empowers you to drop them for better and healthier practices.
All sin is destructive both here and hereafter; when a person follows Christ all those bad habits that does us no good are being dealt with.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23

For sin shall not have dominion over you Romans 6:14

6. Better Self Image

Following Christ makes you see yourself in a better light, irrespective of what the world thinks or says about you. You know you are a child of The King Of Kings and The Lord of Lords, wonderfully and beautifully made, made in His image and likeness, created the head and not the tail, seating in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  Psalm 139:14, Deuteronomy 28: 13, Ephesians 2:6
Christ followers do not feel or behave less than who God has created them, they know who they are in Christ Jesus and will not believe or behave any less.

7. Fearlessness And Certainty Of Eternity

Belief in the after life or not does not stop it from being true. There is a life after now for every single person who was at one time or the other born into this world. And there are only two options for everyone, heaven with God, or hell with the devil.
For the Christ follower, they are not afraid or unsure of what it will be for them, they live life knowing that after passing through this imperfect and wicked world, they will enter a joy filled rest with their Maker and Father.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
