The cause and effect principle is a very important tool in dealing with every problem and challenge. Be it physical, financial, relational, marital, whatsoever.  If we keep taking care of symptoms or effect without dealing with the cause then we will be on a roller coaster, moving around in circles not making any progress. But once the cause is taken care of, the effect will give way, maybe not instantly but it will ultimately.

Jesus is the beginning and the end, His knowledge is infinite, if He shows anything to us, then we should follow after His pattern. When the paralytic was brought to Him, He dealt first with the disease of the soul (The Cause) before He faced the disease of the body (The effect). Sin is the disease of the soul and stands as the root of every other disease in the world today. When sin is dealt with, ultimately there is the certainty that its effects will be dealt with.

And when Jesus saw their faith [their confidence in God through Him], He said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven [you] and put away that is, the penalty is remitted, the sense of guilt removed, and you are made upright and in right standing with God]. Mark 2:9 (AMP)
