01 Aug Can God Change His Mind?
Remember Hezekiah? I know you remember him, he served God so well and He could ask God for a change of heart. But that is not the only reason; he had faith and courage to ask God for a change of heart. He is not the only one who served God well, Moses did, Adam did, yes they messed up but Hezekiah did too, he gave the gold in God’s temple to the Assyrian King. Yet He had faith to ask God for a change of heart, I believe he repented and amended his relationship with God so he could ask…his faith had a part to play there. Adam accepted God’s judgment; he made excuses instead of repenting, and asking for mercy. So did Moses too, if they had asked, perhaps God would have changed His mind.
Over in the New Testament, Mary caused God to change His mind too, it wasn’t His time, but her faith caused Him to do what she requested.
And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it . And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. John 2:3-8 (KJV)
Remember when the strange woman troubled the unjust judge?
You too can! You can ask for mercy if you have erred, and make a demand on God, even if He didn’t want to do it, even if it wasn’t time, your faith can make it happen for you, yes, you can cause God to have a change of heart. It is daring I know, but God rewards faith.
