teshuva, jesus, God, love, obey, the wordWe all strive for significance, fame and importance. To matter on earth means you state your importance, talk big about yourself and talk down on others. You expect people to tremble before you or even make them; you rub it in that they are less privileged because you have more “stuff” than them and try to keep them under.

God’s path to importance is however different, very different- Humility. Until a man humbles himself before God, recognizes he is nothing without Him and that God values everyone of His creature. Until he treats everyone with respect and kindness, he is not as important as he thinks himself to be because only humility brings a person to prominence in God’s eye.

Be humble before the Lord, and he will make you great. James 4:10  (CEV)
