Foolish Talk

Today's Word

Foolish Talk

teshuva, jesus, God, love, obey, the word“I was only joking”. You hear some people say when they make obscene and unwholesome statements or gestures. Disrespectful jokes, silly jokes, sensual jokes and all words that are not glorifying to our God and our faith must not be heard from us or tolerated by us. We must desist from such unhealthy “jokes” as they affect our faith, our God’s heart and us. I used to laugh at these kinds of jokes and sometimes even retell them until I found some words in scriptures that made it clear to me that God is interested in the words I speak, or enjoy listening to.

Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God]. Ephesians 5:4  (AMP)
