27 Jun Your Family Trait
As long as we live, no matter how “good” we are, we are going to have to deal with hate, persecution, unfair treatment, and outright enmity. People will allow themselves to be used by the enemy against us. Some of these people might even be ignorant of what they are doing. The saying goes, “we cannot control people and how they relate to us and treat us, but we can control how we act and react to people”. And God has given us guidelines on the how:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven… Matthew 5:44-45
This is a hard saying isn’t it? And even a harder doing, but God will never ask us to do what He has not or will not enable us to do, the love He has put in us is a very force, so strong and powerful that it can quench every hate, anger, bitterness and all, if only we will let it out.
The words that really got to me here are those in verse 45, the amplified puts it like this; “To show that you are the children of your Father Who is in heaven…” So for me, this is a family trait. Since we are no longer of this world we should be different from them in everything. The kingdom attitude towards hate, no matter how strong it is, is to douse it with love…
