3 Good Reasons For Unanswered Prayers.

3 Good Reasons For Unanswered Prayers.

Three reasons for unanswered prayersEveryone wants their prayers to receive fast answers, like immediately! We all want God’s “suddenly” to happen for us, we would be very excited for the answer to come to us while we are still on our knees before we say amen. While this can happen, it is not always so, other wise we will not have the need to “wait” on God like He says.

The first thing to do when prayers are not answered is to check the following:
-You are part of God’s family
-You are not in sin
-Your demand is in line with His word
-Your faith is strong and unwavering
-Your motive is right
-You are walking in love

God is perfect and very true to His word, plus He has our best at heart. If all of those boxes are checked in the affirmative then God might be holding back for the following reasons:

1. It Is Not Good For You.
God is too good a Father to allow us have what would hurt us, no matter how hard we pray… or cry. This brings to mind a true story of a young man who asked his mum why one of his eyes was blind. She told him how a pair of scissors was taken from him while he played with it as a baby, but because he cried so hard and loud, she was moved by his cry and asked that the scissors be given back to him in order to pacify him. Then while he played with it he dug it into his eye and was blinded. Enraged, the young man yelled at his mum and said to her, “So because I was crying so hard you let me play with what could hurt me!” He picked a pair of scissors and dug into his mother’s eye and blinded her too. Very heart breaking story I know.

Someone once said that he prayed and prayed for a particular lady to give him a “yes” for marriage but it didn’t happen. Marriage is good, very good, but it is not every person that is good for us.

Maybe that car you so desire is not good for you; it might have a default that will cost a life. It could be a good-looking business after a long time of dryness but God will not let you in because He knows it will only bring ruin. So just trust God’s judgment and be at peace, know He has your best interest at heart. God does not want to give you that which will hurt you…

… I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future. Jeremiah 29:11 (ERV)

2. It Is Not The Right Time.
It may be that you are not ready for what you want at the moment. God may have looked at the surrounding conditions at the time and judged that it will not be to your advantage to receive that blessing when you asked. God is a God of process, and sometimes we must wait on the process and mature before He lets us have certain things.

God has blessed us with so many promises in His word but He does not let us have them all at once. Take David for instance, God anointed him king but kept him from the throne until the right time; after Saul and Jonathan’s deaths.

Some of God’s promises for you are for an appointed time; be patient while you wait on God, your wait will neither be forever nor in vain.

To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11 (AMP)

3. God Has Something Better In Mind.
I will always remember the story I heard of a King who asked a golf player to demand anything he wanted as a gift for honouring his invitation. The golfer asked for a golf club, and was so anxious to receive it, going to the mail day after day to check if it has arrived. Days turned to several months but in the end the king gave him a huge land of already built and ready golf course.

Also a man told of how he fell in love with a house while he was house hunting and prayed and fasted to have that particular house, he lost the deal and was very disappointed. But as he continued his search he found a bigger and better house at a far cheaper rate than the former one and he sealed the deal with ease.

Sometimes when God does not give us what we want it is because He has something far better in mind for us. God always want to give us His very best and we must trust Him enough to wait on and for Him.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 (AMP)

I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future. Jeremiah 29:11 (ERV)

Is there something you are waiting for, is your trust in shape?

I am blessed with this episode. God bless you ma. God is not slagg with His promises,He has a timing for us all. Thank you Jesus. I could remember when I was praying for a life partner, then I didn’t have a place of my own to stay, but the moment I paid for my apartment,my wife appeared from no where. May God be praise.

Is good health not his will for us? I have been praying for that for many years now

      My dear Esther,
Please I apologize for not responding earlier. Good health is God’s will for us. All over in the Bible we see how God healed many. As long as you are a child of God, obey His word and operate in faith, good health is your divine right.
Let me share some scriptures below and we can continue from there if you wish.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: {3} Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, {4} Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, {5} Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. {6} The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.
      Psalm 103:2-6

Don’t be impressed with your all wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn your back on evil. Then you’ll gain renewed health and vitality. Proverbs 3:7-8 (NLT)

He said, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.” ~ Exodus 15:26

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; {6} In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. {7} Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. {8} It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8

{19} Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. {20} He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:19-20

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. {5} But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. {6} All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
      (Isaiah 53:4-6)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
      Matthew 8:17 (KJV)

Are any among you sick? They should send for the church elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in the name of the Lord. This prayer made in faith will heal the sick; the Lord will restore them to health, and the sins they have committed will be forgiven. So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect. (James 5:14-16)

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2

So true! When I’m dealing with unanswered prayer, the verse you mentioned, Isaiah 55:8-9, is the one I turn to. I memorized it a long time ago and I quote it often.

This is great. I have to remind myself to be patient sometimes because I know things will end up working the way they are supposed to, even if it doesn’t seem right at the time. So important to remember!

Thank you for writing such a great post. I know these truths, but I still must be reminded of the WORD. The Bible clearly states that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD. As I read this post, I could hear every word in my spirit. Thanks for giving word to my spirit man! Have a blessed weekend!

Ugochi, I’m so glad you began this wonderful post by asking us to first ‘check ourselves’.
So many of my fervent prayers have been answered by our Abba Father. Many times they’ve been answered by:
“Not yet.” “No way!” “I’ve got something so much better for you.”
He ALWAYS has His best for us… whether we ever realize it or not!
    Thanks for this post!
    Blessings to you ~ Mary

I remember giving those same reasons to one of my teens about praying about a relationship he was in:) I also learned raising these boys that a prayer sent out goes on a journey sometimes maybe 5 minutes maybe 15 years before it comes back answered:) Love your list – love we think alike:)

That’s the way it works, sometimes we have immediately, sometimes we have to be patient sometimes really enduring.
      But god does answer…
Thanks for coming by today, hope to see you more often, do have a super blessed day.
I am glad we think alike too.
