Our Confidence

Today's Word

Our Confidence

teshuva, jesus, God, love, obey, the wordImagine your 5 year old working up to you and asking:

“Please can I get a two bedroom house for my birthday?”

I bet you would burst out in laughter at his unbelievable request or probably stare in shock and wonder why he asked for such a ridiculous gift.

Now, it is not bad to give your grown up child the gift of a house but to give it to your 5 year old would be preposterous.

There are certain things you would be willing to give your child at 5, things you wouldn’t hesitate to give to him. When he asks for something like a toy car or a football it would be within your will to give it to him. We could also apply this to attain a successful prayer life.

In order to have our prayers answered, we must spend time with God in prayer and fellowship and  feed on His word so much so that our thoughts are filled with His words. When we align ourselves to God via His word, we so become one with Him that we would never desire anything outside His will for us and when that happens, we receive whatever we ask of Him. That is our confidence!

And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. 1 John 5:14

Thank you for another inspirational article. We will, now or later, realise that the wordly saying, “If it makes you happy, it can’t be bad”, is not quite true. I pray that the Lord who sees all and knows all, gives us only what’s best for us. Stay blessed!

After reading this post (beautiful as usual) it just occurred to me that when we ask that which is outside the will of God for us, God will show surprise the type we will show when our 5 year-old asks for a house as a gift. You can be sure that God will NOT grant such request not because He does not love but because He knows everything. He knows some our requests/petitions if granted can lead to destruction. Thank you for loving us so much to give us what is good for us.
