07 Mar LOVE GONE COLD

And they decided to ignore it and drove on as if it was all a big lie, or assume that the big gully would just close up before they got there and they would cross over, and then they drove straight into the gully and died.
Would you blame the government, or the person who ignored the warning?
I know I would guess right if I said the person who ignored the warning.
There is a warning many I have discovered ignored. Many Christians have ignored the warning of the sign of the times. Some times I wonder if we take it seriously or not, if we think we can escape or we think it has absolutely nothing to do with us.
It is a sure prophecy that is coming to pass right before our very eyes yet we have allowed the world and its god to blind us or make us feel nonchalant and passive about it.
God is a God of love, it is His love for us that caused Him to put it down to help us (Especially those who choose to follow Him) escape the judgment that will befall the world. He wants us to be ware and guard against the pitfalls or snares the enemy will put before us to distract us and hinder us from our desired eternal bliss with the Father.
What is this prophecy, you must be wondering by now. Simple words written in the clearest of terms:
“…The love of many shall wax cold.”
Matthew 24:12b
This is one way we get to know that the end is near.
But I have seen that we either do not take this seriously or we have been consumed by the trends in the world. Because I see that so many of us have allowed our love for God and His kingdom to wax cold even after we have been warned that “the love of many shall wax cold”.
We do not take God and has Word as serious any more
We do not spend time with Him like we used to
We neglect fellowship in Church
We are no longer passionate about wining souls and making disciples
The list goes on and on…
This is a trend we must fight individually and as a body, in order for us to stay ignited and passionate for our God until the end. We are armed with the fore knowledge that this will happen, so we can escape from being part of the many whose love will wax cold, we can decide that we will not be part of those to fulfill this prophecy.
Love waxing cold is like backsliding put in another term, I wrote about that here. It does not happen suddenly, it creeps in bit by bit by bit…
So we must be vigilant, we must stand and stand firm, with our eyes wide open and we must take conscious steps to keep our love aflame for God.
We must do all the opposite of what our flesh suggests to us.
Pray when the flesh says sleep
Read our Bible when the flesh says wait till later
Attend Church fellowship when the flesh says it is getting too much
Love even when the flesh says hate…
I know you get the drift.
We must refuse to be side tracked by the busyness and worldliness of the world and run our Christian race to the end and to victory.
But he that endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Matthew 24:13
If only we can “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works:”
Revelation 2:5b
Then we would be on the path to stay in love and grow in love with our God.
Then we would revive the love that has gone cold and escape the enemy’s plan to make us end up like him.
Can we talk about this? What are some of the signs of “love gone cold you notice, what can we do about it?

Posted at 14:59h, 10 MarchLoving God means that we keep him on our priority list. We unfortunately have our ‘must dos’, ‘will dos’ and ‘can dos’ lists and shove God unto our ‘if-I’m-not-too-tired-list’. We need to develop a habit of meditating on the Word throughout the day; this is the way in which we maintain our union with God and keep the Word alive in us. God needs to be like the air we breathe; he should be on our ‘cannot-live-without-you’ list.

Posted at 14:16h, 08 MarchTo me, an example of love gone cold is that Christianity seems to have been watered down to a mere FB post or Tweet and no Christian living behind the post. Also when we get so busy with life, the first thing we drop is going to church. There are so many things I can think of and I pray to God that I don’t get caught up and ignore (or get distracted from recognizing)the signs. Powerful conviction post. Thank you for this.
btw, can you add the link for the sentence you posted saying “Love waxing cold is like backsliding put in an order term, I wrote about that here.”

Posted at 19:48h, 08 MarchAmen Hope! We should all keep praying for ourselves and the Church.
We just need to fight every distraction and hold unto the master’s plan for living the Christian life. Thanks a lot for coming by and thanks a lot for noticing my error with the link too! I have corrected it.
Have a super blessed weekend!

Posted at 10:22h, 08 MarchIt’s very true, love for God has gone cold as love for the things of this world increase. I pray that we will still press into Him, even as the cares and concerns of life tell us to panic and be afraid.

Posted at 13:56h, 08 March{Melinda} I’ve thought about this subject so much. And have to guard against it myself every day. So much in the world is pulling at us. I’ve seen it in the church — obligation over passion. A compromising of standards. We are all guilty at times, but I think spending time in the Word consistently is the greatest antidote. We can’t study the Word and by unchanged or uninspired. Such a great post!

Posted at 19:44h, 08 MarchI agree Melinda, studying God’s word will keep us hungry and passionate for Him.
Let us keep praying for the Church, God help us!
Thanks a lot for coming by, do have a super blessed day!
