COUNTING IT ALL DUNG/USELESS

counting it all as dung

COUNTING IT ALL DUNG/USELESS

“Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ”

Philippians 3:8
Reading the above scriptures a couple of days ago, it hit me really hard. I had to book mark it and made a margin note against it. It occurred to me that there were so many things I needed to let go if I must gain Christ, in His fullness.
Unlike The Apostle Paul, I do not have a long list of accomplishments that I had to forgo when I met Christ. But I had a long list of sinful habits that I had to lay on the altar. Unfortunately, as I read, I discovered so many other things that I had not counted as loss. So many attitudes I still nurtured and some I am still struggling with: my emotions, my ideas and perceptions.

I know it is the same for most people. Apostle Paul had to count all his accomplishments as dung, so that he may gain Christ. Some of us are like him, with plenty of accomplishments, while some of us are like me, with attitudes we must let go.

There are things we must let go, some relationships, some principles, some habits, some thoughts, some notions, and some favourite places.
There are some things we must put aside, maybe qualifications, intellect and ego if we must gain Christ
He wants to occupy all of our hearts not just a part, He wants to possess our hearts. We must not leave Him standing at the door; we must let Him all the way in. For when we gain Him, we have gained everything.
Philippians 3:7, 10 (KJV)
[7]   But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
[10] THAT I MAY KNOW HIM, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death…
Some things are not worth hanging unto, they can cost us our very lives and the life to come. We must make up our minds what really matters to us, here and now or eternity.
To know Him is the greatest thing that can happen to anyone.
How about you? Are you letting go, counting all things as loss/dung, in order to really know Him in His fullness?

Go on and speak your mind, just scroll down a little bit more…

It is a very deep revelation that many dont understand. God said what profits a man to gain the world and loose his very own soul… I understand why the man of wisdom (Paul) spoke those words.. He also said thats why it is so important to set your affections on heavenly things, because only what you do for God will last… I encourage you to continue sharing what’s really important as servants of God… Be blessed… Shotoapril@yahoo.com

It’s a daily sometimes hourly (ok often hourly) thing for me to lie down selfishness with my kids these days! The devil sure knows our weaknesses doesn’t he? But I just have to keep on laying it down and dying to self for Him!!!
