I don’t have a girl child (biologically) yet, however all the young ladies in my circle of influence I consider to be my daughters and sister. I have made a little list out of the many things I would love my daughters to know.  I pray you find them of great value too…

1. Find Your Worth In God
Do not derive your worth from your friends, the media or society. They most times would make you feel you are never good enough. Never thin enough, never pretty enough, never eloquent enough, never spotless enough, never rich enough, never tall enough. But in God you are perfect, He made you perfect and if you live in this consciousness you will not be under any form of pressure to satisfy the world. While you may have a lot of improvements to make on your person: attitude, character, and  your inner beauty,

God did not make any mistake in your height, skin colour, nose, eyes or all those other physical parameters. You are perfect in God.

Colossians 2:10
And ye are complete in him…

Psalm 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

2. Experience Is Not A Fun Teacher
I would love to let them know that it is better to learn by instructions instead of seeking to experience for themselves, wanting to “know” for themselves. Let me explain, growing up I was told to take my life in its phases and steps. I was told to face my studies and avoid distractions from all the things that distract teenagers and youths: TV, parties, friends, boys… but I refused to follow instructions and went head long into “life”, I refused to pursue the most important things as a youth and young lady.  I have learnt some lessons, true, but it was a hard path to learning, I have some scars to show for the brutality of learning under experience’s hard teaching.

Proverbs 4:13
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

3. Your Body Is A Treasure
A girl’s body is her treasure, it is a sacred treasure, it is not to be toyed about with, and it is not a pleasure treat for any man besides her husband.  Your body is not a medium to prove your love to any man, or to make certain a man’s love for you.  A sincere man will tell you that having sex with you does not really mean anything serious to any man, men can have sex without any kind of emotional attachment to the lady they had sex with.  Treasure your body, keep it in dignity, and preserve it for the right time:  after marriage.

1Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

4. You Are Meant To Be Wooed
It is only natural; the way God made it is for the man to chase after the woman. If you have to do the chasing after the man, then it is a wrong order and nothing good comes out of doing things the wrong way. Do not make yourself cheap in the eyes of any man, if you have to talk or chase or lure him into a relationship or marrying you, you may have to continue chasing, talking and luring him into staying in the relationship or staying married to you.

Proverbs 18:22
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

5. Don’t Stress For Friends
It is good to have friends; friends can be an asset if they are the right kind of friends. By this I mean that if you have friends who will influence you to do right things, friends who value themselves like you do, then you can keep them. But you should not stress at all to keep friends who are not living the kind of life worth emulating; you should be glad if they want to stop being your friend because you will not join them, in fact you should do the leaving and preserve your life.

1Corinthians 15:33
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

6. No Man Can Love You Like God
Only God can love you, I mean truly love you unconditionally, perfectly and endlessly, because He is LOVE. So before you can trust your heart to any man, you must make sure the man’s heart is in God. It is only a man whose heart is in God that can truly love you. Only a man who is learning love from God, who is under God’s influence can love you well. No matter how he professes love for you, he cannot love you nearly like you would deserve if he is not in God, so depend on God for the man that would love you like you genuinely.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
